Welcome to the survival zone

About Me

DMC: Lakeland, Florida, United States; I was born in western New York in 1955. My parents owned property in the country. They grew their own food, they raised a pig every year, had chickens that supplied both meat and eggs and my Dad hunted deer. We did not have indoor plumbing of any kind. Our water came from a hand pump just outside the front door. We had electricity but Mom always had lanterns around "just in case". We had a pot belly stove in the living room for heat. Mom cooked on a wood burning cook stove.Yes, we had an outhouse. We were pretty self sufficient. When people look at me weird for being prepared I remember a day when that was a way of life, a way to survive.
